Dry Skin…why not some walnuts

The freeze cold days of winter are not my favorite. I do love warm soup, tea and a nice fire but bundling up, drying heaters, chapped lips… are not my favorite. I just read that one ounce of walnuts contains TWICE the amount of omega-3and 6 fatty acids found in some oils such as flaxseed and borage used to reduce skin redness. A study of 45 women found that walnuts reduced skin redness by 44% after 12 weeks and the skin also retained up to 19% more water. I like this idea if it will help keep skin from drying out during these harsh winter days.
Some ways I add walnuts to my diet are in a salad with arugula, lemon, capers and beets, kind has a walnut and date snack bar that I like to cut into small pieces and freeze for a bite size dessert or just roast a few for a snack with a pear. Just note that due to their high polyunsaturated fat content, walnuts are extremely perishable. Shelled walnuts should be stored in an airtight container and placed in the refrigerator, where they will keep for six months, or the freezer, where they will last for one year. Unshelled walnuts should preferably be stored in the refrigerator, although as long as you keep them in a cool, dry, dark place they will stay fresh for up to six months. If I buy an ipod red instead, then $10 is donated, therefore it has benefit
