Sunday Football

It was a full day of football this past Sunday. With both the AFC and NFC championships ending in nail-biting games. I am proud to say I sat at a bar for the entire Giants game, didn’t even think of leaving at half-time. It was a fantastic win and I am so excited for the Super Bowl now. At first it was just for the Pepsi commercial with Melanie Amaro, but now we have a team to cheer on!
I must give my friend Amanda credit for a) getting to the bar at 230pm and getting great seats b) picking a bar, Park Ave Tavern, that had a good wine selections since I am not a beer drinker. Now the challenge is always how can one eat healthy or relatively healthy at a bar. Here are a few tips:
1) Have a snack before you go (I had 2 clemintines and raw cashews on my way)
2) See what lean protein they have: chicken skewers, cocktail shrimp, grilled chicken (sandwich/salad), the meat from a burger or slider (try to limit the white flour buns to one serving if this is your dinner) if they have bison a great lean choice
3) flavor with salsa
Limit:
1) cheese
2) chips
3) fries
and all of these items mixed: cheese fries, nachos, pizza…
Have fun but don’t ruin it with stuffing your face with high fat foods that you end up looking like a linebacker on Monday. Stay tuned for some Super Bowl recipes leading up to the party. I promise they will be easy, taste great and no one will know they are healthy! Interpretive work one approach teachers commonly cite, for example, is to maintain the common core’s emphasis on abstract reasoning and conceptual understanding while, at least at first, using word problems that require less-advanced math skills
